Masaka Creamery set to launch Fruited Yogurt Mini-Cups

The new product feature is a smaller, portable version of its existing 250ml fruited yogurt

RWANDA = Masaka Creamery Limited, a dairy company based in Kigali, Rwanda, has announced the upcoming release of its new 150ml Fruited Yogurt Mini-Cups.

According to the company, the new product feature is a smaller, portable version of its existing 250ml fruited yogurt, crafted with real fruit to provide a light and convenient snack option for consumers.

Masaka Creamery, established in 2015, operates from its facility in the Kigali Special Economic Zone in Masoro.

The company produces a range of dairy products under the Masaka Farms and Bonjour! Brands, including yogurt, fermented milk, fresh cream, butter, ghee, mascarpone, and cheese.

It sources milk from over 2,000 local farmers and processes around 4,000 liters daily, serving both the Rwandan market and neighboring regions.

In addition to the new 150ml mini-cups, their yogurt line includes strawberry and vanilla flavors in various sizes, from 100ml to 5 liters, alongside natural and Greek yogurt options.

Recently, the company has pursued several initiatives to enhance its operations. The company employs a majority-Deaf workforce, with over 60% of its 50-plus staff being hearing-impaired, offering training in sign language and work skills.

Masaka Creamery has also secured certifications from the Rwanda Standards Board, Rwanda Food and Drugs Authority, and HACCP, ensuring high-quality and safe products.

In recent years, it has introduced new packaging materials for its yogurt to strengthen brand identity and meet customer demand.

In 2018, a US$280,000 grant from USAID enabled the purchase of new dairy processing equipment, cold storage, and milk quality lab tools, boosting production and increasing farmer incomes by 20%.

This support also facilitated the development of eight new products, including sour cream and thick yogurt, now sold to high-end hotels, restaurants, and retail markets.

Masaka Creamery continues to expand its distribution network across Rwanda, reaching districts like Nyagatare, Rubavu, and Huye, reinforcing its position as a leading dairy producer in the region.
