Symega’s growth plans is to cater for the growing demand for its products in North & East India
INDIA – Symega Food Ingredients Ltd, a manufacturer and supplier of innovative food ingredients, has opened its new manufacturing facility in Sonipat, Haryana.
Located at Rai Industrial Area and operated by HSIIDC Limited, the new plant marks a significant step in Symega’s growth plans to cater to the growing demand for its products in North & East India.
Mr. Jagrut Kotecha, CEO, PepsiCo India & South Asia, was the Chief Guest, presided over by Dr. Viju Jacob, Executive Chairman, and Mr. Aju Jacob, Managing Director, from Synthite Industries Pvt. Ltd for the inauguration ceremony.
By providing taste solutions for snacks, noodles, breakfast mixes, and ensuring a wide range of applications, the facility will be crucial in ensuring faster delivery timelines and optimizing supply chain logistics for customers across the region.
On the occasion, Mr. Santhosh Stephen, Managing Director, Symega Food Ingredients Ltd., stated, “This new facility reinforces our commitment to being a trusted partner for food brands in North India.
“By bringing our production capabilities closer to our customers, we aim to enhance speed, flexibility, and service excellence in delivering high-quality seasoning solutions.”
The facility comes two years after the company established a Greenfield research and development laboratory and a manufacturing unit, investing Rs 100 crore (US$1.15 million) over the next five years.
The company said in a statement that both facilities would cater to the growing demand for plant-based foods in India and abroad.
The Kochi greenfield facility will manufacture extruded proteins and double its existing capacity by the end of the year.
By 2030, Symega aims to make India the manufacturing hub of plant-based proteins for Europe and Asia.
The company’s manufacturing operations are based at the Synthite Taste Park near Kochi, while the R&D facilities are located in Kochi, Bangalore (Karnataka), and Gurugram (Delhi NCR).
Symega Managing Director Santhosh Stephen said, “Plant-based proteins are not limited to only vegan food items but are fast growing as a logical alternative for healthy food habits and a sustainable lifestyle.
“Symega is committed to becoming the platform for this change and making India the hub of the plant-based protein revolution in Asia.”
“To that extent, we are committing Rs 100 crore over the next five years to ramp up R&D and manufacturing capabilities.”
Rethesh Kumar, the business head of Symega’s plant-based protein division, said that by combining its R&D laboratory and manufacturing unit in one location and extending strong backward integration to farmers, the company has achieved vertical integration across the entire supply chain.
This approach allows them to address every challenge from the conception of an idea to the product’s launch.
