NIGERIA – Concerns have been growing over the increasing use of creamers as substitutes for nourishing milk in Nigeria, raising questions about their nutritional value.
Arla Foods, the producer of Dano Milk, has reaffirmed its commitment to providing high-quality, nutritious dairy products that meet global nutrition and quality standards.
According to the company, Dano Milk products play a vital role in the diets of millions of Nigerians, offering essential nutrients such as calcium, protein, and vitamins A, B, and D.
A report by the company indicates that a 200ml serving of Dano Milk provides up to 256mg of calcium, 7.5g of protein, and 1.12 micrograms of vitamin B12, making it a highly beneficial choice for both children and adults.
In contrast, non-dairy creamers contain little to no calcium, protein, or vitamin D, making them a less nutritious option for consumers, particularly for children in their developmental years.
Arla Foods emphasized the importance of consumer awareness, urging Nigerians to make informed choices when selecting dairy products.
The company stated that all Dano Milk products, including Dano Cool Cow, Full Cream, Slim, Evaporated Milk, Dano Vita Kids, and UHT products, are carefully crafted to support a healthy and balanced diet.
“We are proud to state that our Dano milk products consist of the finest dairy goodness, sourced from happy and healthy well-fed cows from some of the best farms in Europe,” the company stated.
“Every glass of Dano Milk is packed with essential nutrients that nourish your body and keep you strong, active, and ready to take on the day.”
Arla Foods further expressed its commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s dairy industry by collaborating with local dairy players, educating consumers, and working alongside government stakeholders to improve local dairy production.
The company acknowledged the efforts of regulatory bodies in ensuring the availability of quality dairy products in the market.
“We commend the efforts of industry players, particularly NAFDAC and SON, for their support and collaborative efforts in consumer protection. Together, we can accelerate access to quality milk to secure a sustainable, nutritious, and prosperous future for Nigerians.“
As the debate over the nutritional value of dairy alternatives continues, Arla Foods remains dedicated to upholding high standards in dairy production and ensuring that consumers have access to safe and nutritious milk products.
