Danone Egypt empowers people with disabilities through yogurt-making

EGYPT – Danone Egypt has reaffirmed its commitment to social impact through a partnership with WeCare Foundation aimed at empowering people with disabilities by equipping them with yogurt-making skills.

The company hosted a press conference and visit, bringing together officials, key stakeholders, and media representatives to showcase the initiative’s progress and impact.

According to a report by Danone Egypt, the collaboration includes the establishment of a yogurt production lab within WeCare Foundation, designed with the support of PET Egypt and Alasdekaa Dairies.

The facility provides hands-on training for individuals with disabilities, enabling them to engage in all aspects of yogurt production, from manufacturing to sales.

The initiative also offers financial benefits, as the yogurt cups produced are sold within the foundation, providing an additional income stream for the trainees.

A representative from Danone Egypt emphasized the importance of this project, stating, “This initiative goes beyond nutrition by training these incredible individuals, we are equipping them with the skills to enhance their personal and cognitive development, broadening their employment prospects and fostering independence.”

The company supplies fresh milk weekly from its Nubariya farm to support the production process, ensuring that the yogurt produced meets high nutritional standards.

Reported by industry insiders, the initiative reflects a growing trend of corporate involvement in social responsibility projects that aim to create tangible benefits for marginalized communities.

The WeCare Foundation, known for its dedication to empowering individuals with disabilities, has welcomed the partnership, noting that such collaborations help bridge the gap between training and real economic opportunities.

During the press conference, a representative from WeCare Foundation expressed appreciation for the initiative, saying, “This partnership is not just about making yogurt it’s about giving individuals the confidence and skills to participate actively in society and build a sustainable livelihood.”

The event also highlighted the contributions of PET Egypt in providing packaging materials and Alasdekaa Dairies for their role in the project’s development.

Danone Egypt has encouraged more companies to support similar programs to promote inclusion and economic empowerment.

The initiative aligns with the company’s broader mission to contribute positively to the communities it serves, ensuring that people with disabilities have access to meaningful training and employment opportunities.
