SWITZERLAND—Tetra Pak, a Swedish multinational food packaging and processing company, has unveiled the new Tetra Pak Homogenizer 15C and the Tetra Pak Homogenizer 20C.
This 2-in-1 homogenizer has two components compared to six in a conventional homogenizer. This reduces complexity, low energy consumption and costs by up to 25%, and ongoing maintenance required by manufacturers.
Fiona Liebehenz, Vice President of Key Components Plant Solutions and Channel Management at Tetra Pak, said, “Homogenization is critical in many food and beverage production processes. However, not all products or factories require complex machinery, so we took on the challenge of simplifying the current state-of-the-art solutions to meet a broader range of our customers’ needs.
“Combining the first and second homogenization stages into a single device, we’ve created a flexible machine with fewer parts. This reduces the initial investment and long-term maintenance costs, which matter to our customers.”
Traditional homogenization often requires two devices, the first and second stages. Tetra Pak has reimagined this by combining both devices into a single entity, the HD21 homogenization device.
Tetra Pak noted that this has allowed the required homogenization process and pressure adjustments to be conducted within the same compact machine with a single pressure adjustment.
Additionally, Tetra Pak has addressed the challenge of asymmetrical wear of parts such as valves during homogenization.
The company continued to say that whereas uneven wear of components would previously necessitate their replacement, the new line of homogenizers offers symmetrical wear parts that can be turned by the operator, doubling their lifespan.
The units are designed to integrate and operate in existing lines through a compact design that houses all essential parts inside the homogenizer and a ‘straightforward’ clamp connection.
Last year, the company announced the launch of the Tetra Prisma Aseptic 300 Edge beverage carton, which is aimed at appealing to younger consumers and dynamic adults.
The packaging features a distinct, ergonomic design that aligns with modern consumers’ preference for taller and slimmer cartons.
The Tetra Prisma Aseptic 300 Edge is engineered to minimize product waste through its unique design.
The carton’s slanted top, combined with a DreamCap 26 Pro tethered closure, effectively prevents litter by keeping the cap attached to the package. Consumers can recycle the cap and the carton through kerbside collection, enhancing sustainability efforts.
