KENYA – Brookside Dairy ltd has been awarded the Food Safety System Certification (FSSC Version 6), reaffirming its commitment to maintaining the highest food safety standards across its milk value chain.
The company described the achievement as a milestone that underscores its dedication to delivering safe and high-quality products to consumers.
According to a report by the company, the certification follows Brookside’s recognition at the 2024 Kenya Quality Awards, where it received the Products of the Year Award and the Company of the Year Award.
The event, hosted by the Kenya Bureau of Standards in Nairobi, celebrated excellence in quality and innovation.
Brookside has also received the ISO 17025:2017 accreditation for its Central Laboratory, a certification awarded by the Kenya Accreditation Service (KENAS).
The certificate was presented to Sabina Mwangi, Brookside’s General Manager of Quality Assurance, Systems, and Sustainability, during a ceremony at the company’s headquarters.
The accreditation positions the lab among an elite group of only three dairy laboratories in the country to meet this standard.
“This recognition reinforces our commitment to precision, quality, and operational excellence in dairy testing,” Mwangi stated.
Brookside’s advancements extend beyond laboratory excellence. Earlier in the year, the company’s Brookside Plus product line was endorsed by the Kenya Nutritionist and Dietitian Institute (KNDI).
The endorsement, achieved after more than a year of rigorous testing and evaluation, recognized products such as lactose-free milk, low-fat milk, probiotic yogurt, and vitamin-enriched dairy offerings.
Caroline Muchobia, Brookside’s Health & Nutritionist Manager, highlighted the significance of the endorsement during a ceremony celebrating the achievement.
“Meeting KNDI’s standards demonstrates our dedication to providing nutritious and high-quality dairy products,” she said.
Marketing Director Reza Cheboko emphasized that Brookside remains committed to upholding national nutritional standards and ensuring compliance across its product range.
The company’s continued recognition in food safety and quality assurance further strengthens its position as a leader in Kenya’s dairy industry.
