Minister urges collaboration to strengthen Nigeria’s dairy sector

NIGERIA – The Minister of Livestock Development, Idi Maiha, has emphasized the need for increased collaboration to enhance Nigeria’s dairy sector and ensure its sustainability.

During a courtesy visit from a delegation of Inter-Heritage Promotions Limited, Minister Maiha commended the firm’s partnership with Sweden and highlighted the importance of such collaborations, particularly in supporting the Federal Government’s school feeding program.

Minister Maiha acknowledged Nigeria’s favorable market conditions for economic growth within the dairy sector and reiterated the Ministry’s commitment to building capacity and fostering partnerships with stakeholders dedicated to transforming the industry.

He praised the delegation’s innovative initiatives and encouraged them to intensify collaboration and refine their strategies to achieve concrete results that would benefit both the sector and the nation.

Patrick Usen, Managing Director of Inter-Heritage Promotions Limited, emphasized the significance of bilateral cooperation between Nigeria and Sweden in enhancing the dairy value chain.

According to a statement from Ben Bem Goong, the Ministry’s Director of Information and Public Relations, Usen noted that the initiative offers support services, technology transfer, improved animal health and welfare, and environmentally friendly practices.

Usen highlighted that this collaboration provides an opportunity for knowledge exchange and strengthens the commitment to building a resilient and prosperous dairy sector for future generations.

He also emphasized Sweden’s global leadership in sustainable agriculture and innovative dairy practices, which serve as benchmarks for quality, efficiency, and environmental stewardship.
