USA – Vertical Cold Storage, an innovative cold storage and logistics solutions provider, has announced the opening of its new distribution center in Kansas City, Missouri.
The 311,000-square-foot facility will cater to food and beverage producers in need of temperature-controlled storage.
According to West Hutchison, president and CEO of Vertical Cold Storage, the facility is designed to support the distribution needs of customers with the latest technologies and equipment.
He emphasized that the highly skilled Kansas City team is ready to accommodate a diverse range of customer demands on a daily basis.
The facility is equipped with advanced features such as 47,000 pallet positions, blast freezing technology, and multiple rooms that can be adjusted between 35°F and -20°F.
Vertical Cold Storage highlighted the use of innovative materials and systems in the building’s design and construction, which are intended to reduce energy consumption and enhance sustainability.
The location of the new distribution center is strategic, with proximity to major intermodal terminals.
It is situated next to the CPKC intermodal terminal in southern Kansas City, just 30 miles away from the BNSF, Union Pacific, and Norfolk Southern terminals. This allows for efficient access to various regions across North America.
Ryan Anderson, co-president and co-founder of Platform Ventures, the real estate investment firm that partnered with Vertical Cold Storage on the project, praised the facility’s design and operational capabilities.
He noted that clients will benefit from a partnership that offers a strong return on investment, secure product transfers, and a dedicated, professional staff.
Hutchison also expressed gratitude towards the development partners, including Port KC, Platform Ventures, and the team members who made the project possible.
“We couldn’t have done this without them,” he remarked. The facility is expected to create more than 100 full-time jobs, further contributing to the local economy and meeting the growing demands of the cold storage industry.
