NDDB allocates land for milk, fruit processing plants in Andhra Pradesh

INDIA – National Dairy Development Board has allocated approximately 40 acres of land by the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation Limited to the Shreeja Mahila Milk Producers Organisation (Shreeja) in Thambiganipalli, Santhipuram, Chittoor.

The land will be used to establish a state-of-the-art milk processing plant, a milk powder manufacturing unit, and a cattle feed production facility, with an estimated investment of Rs. 250 Crore.

The event, held in Kuppam, Andhra Pradesh, was graced by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Shri Nara Chandrababu Naidu, and Dr. Meenesh C Shah, Chairman of NDDB Dairy Services and NDDB, among other notable dignitaries.

This initiative aims to enhance the efficiency of milk processing, which will help in improving returns for milk producers and provide better prices for consumers.

The cattle feed plant, in particular, is expected to support increased productivity among milch animals by ensuring a steady supply of quality feed.

Meanwhile, Dr. Meenesh C Shah also met with Shri Krishnendu Paul, the Hon’ble Minister of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary in Assam, to discuss ongoing and future interventions by NDDB in the state.

During their meeting, Dr. Shah provided an update on various initiatives including the professional management of WAMUL and EAMUL, setting up dairy plants on a probono basis, and implementing the Assam Dairy Development Plan through a joint venture with NEDFL.

Additional programs such as decentralized biogas and manure management with slurry processing plants, as well as the procurement, processing, and marketing of organic produce through National Cooperative Organics Ltd, were also highlighted.

Dr. Shah extended an invitation to the Hon’ble Minister to visit Anand and observe the various initiatives undertaken by NDDB and its subsidiaries that have contributed to developing an efficient dairy ecosystem.

The Minister expressed appreciation for the ongoing support provided by NDDB and discussed the future of dairying in Assam.

In another significant development, the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Shri Nara Chandrababu Naidu, was also present when an allotment letter for 41.227 acres of land in Thambiganipalli, Santhipuram, Chittoor, was handed over to Mother Dairy Fruit & Vegetable Pvt Ltd (Mother Dairy).

The land will be utilized for setting up a fruit processing unit, which is expected to involve an investment of Rs. 125 Crore.

The plant will focus on producing fruit pulp, concentrate, and paste, providing farmers with better market prices and a guaranteed market for their produce.
