Saputo raises US$640,000 to support United Way Canada initiatives

CANADA – Saputo has demonstrated its enduring commitment to community development by raising US$640,000 for United Way branches across Canada.

The funds were secured through the company’s annual three-week campaign, which featured creative and engaging workplace activities such as sketch contests and cannoli bake sales.

According to Saputo, the initiative brought employees together for a shared cause, with the company matching every dollar donated to double the campaign’s overall impact.

As reported by Saputo, the company has been a steadfast supporter of United Way for over two decades, reinforcing its role as a corporate leader in addressing social challenges.

This latest fundraising effort aligns with United Way’s mission to support local needs, particularly as inflation and food insecurity continue to burden Canadian families.

Haig Poutchigian, President and Chief Operating Officer of Saputo’s Canadian division, emphasized the shared values between the two organizations, highlighting the importance of corporate responsibility during uncertain times.

Saputo and United Way have always shared common values and agree on how to have an impact on society through community involvement,” Poutchigian noted.

“With so much going on in the world that affects us in a profound way, it’s easy to overlook the needs of others. Now, more than ever, is the time to help those in need.”

Louise Wagar, Regional Director and Co-President of the company’s United Way campaign, echoed this sentiment, underscoring Saputo’s broader vision of giving back.

“At Saputo, we are committed to giving back to the communities where we live and work, to celebrating diversity, and to genuinely caring about those in need.”

We achieve this in part through United Way, as the organization supports many causes within our community. By working together, we have an opportunity to truly make a difference,” Wagar added.

The campaign reflects Saputo’s ongoing efforts to champion social initiatives while fostering a sense of unity among its workforce.

According to the company’s recent fiscal report, Saputo invested $3.8 million in Canadian communities in 2024, impacting over 3.4 million lives.

Additionally, the company has maintained dynamic partnerships with other national organizations, including FitSpirit, KidSport, Le Grand défi Pierre Lavoie, and La Tablée des Chefs, further amplifying its philanthropic reach.

Saputo’s contributions not only address immediate challenges but also strengthen local networks through long-term collaboration.

United Way Canada, a trusted name in community support, will utilize the funds to further its critical programs, creating positive, tangible outcomes for individuals and families across the country.

This collective effort serves as a reminder of the impact that businesses can achieve when aligned with community-driven goals.
