USA – ADM has released its 2025 Flavor and Color Trends Report, highlighting key shifts expected to shape food and beverage innovation in the coming year.
According to the report, four main trends will influence consumer choices: sensorial experiences that blend nostalgia with future innovations, wellness, affordability, and personalization.
The first trend, labeled “Revisit & Re-Invent,” emphasizes the power of human memories and shared experiences.
ADM noted that new generations are encountering classic tastes and colors for the first time, leading to a redefinition of tradition with simplicity, familiarity, and comfort.
The second trend, termed “Adaptive Eating,” focuses on consumers customizing their eating habits to improve health and adapt to economic or environmental changes.
A report by ADM explained that this trend fulfills the human need for satisfaction through mindful food and beverage choices.
“Euphoric Wellness” is the third key trend, involving flavors and colors that connect with human moods and emotions. ADM’s findings suggest that consumers are increasingly seeking holistic wellness experiences that nourish the mind, body, and soul.
The final trend, “Made for (You),” highlights a growing consumer interest in personalization. ADM’s study noted that people are drawn to unexpected, vibrant flavors and colors that create meaningful and joyful moments in their food and beverage experiences.
In related news, ADM has appointed Monish Patolawala as the company’s executive vice president and chief financial officer (CFO), effective August 1.
He succeeds Ismael Roig, who has served as interim CFO since January. Patolawala will oversee global finance and accounting, global business services, technology, and enterprise strategy.
ADM CEO Juan Luciano expressed confidence in the new appointment, stating, “We are thrilled to have an executive of Monish’s caliber joining ADM as we focus on productivity, innovation, and delivering with excellence.”
He added that Patolawala’s extensive experience in global finance and technology positions him well to lead ADM’s financial operations.
Patolawala brings over 25 years of experience, most recently serving as president and CFO at 3M, where he led various strategic functions. Prior to 3M, he held leadership roles at GE, including CFO of GE Healthcare and head of operational transformation.
Reflecting on his new role, Patolawala said, “It is an honor to join ADM at this pivotal moment. Growing up in India, I witnessed severe poverty and hunger, which fuels my passion for ADM’s mission to enrich lives by unlocking the power of nature.”
He emphasized his commitment to advancing ADM’s operational excellence and delivering value to stakeholders.
Roig, who stepped in as interim CFO during a period of scrutiny over ADM’s accounting practices, will continue as president of EMEA and president of animal nutrition.
In March, ADM identified and corrected discrepancies in intersegment sales within its Nutrition, Ag Services and Oilseeds, and Carbohydrate Solutions segments.
