FanMilk Ghana wins Sustainability & Social Investment award

GHANA – FanMilk Ghana has been named Best Company in Livelihood Empowerment & Skills Development at the 2024 Sustainability & Social Investment (SSI) Awards.

This achievement highlights the company’s impactful initiatives aimed at boosting economic growth and community development through its Vendor Academy and Right to Dream programs.

The FanMilk Vendor Academy has provided crucial training and support to vendors, helping them improve their business operations and financial stability.

The Right to Dream Initiative complements this by creating sustainable employment opportunities within the company’s value chain, strengthening local entrepreneurship, and enhancing livelihoods across Ghana.

In a separate development, FanMilk Ghana launched the 2024 FanMilk School Caravan in Kumasi, focusing on environmental sustainability and waste management.

In partnership with the Ghana Education Service (GES), the program aims to educate over 100,000 students in the Greater Accra and Ashanti regions on proper waste disposal and environmental conservation.

A key feature of this year’s School Caravan is the Wrapper Collection Challenge. This competition encourages students to collect and recycle three million ice cream wrappers, promoting eco-friendly practices.

FanMilk will reward participants with prizes such as branded souvenirs and tablets, while the top three schools will receive cash awards to fund their environmental projects.

Since its inception in 2018, the FanMilk School Caravan has engaged more than 500,000 students across 180,000 schools.

The initiative expanded in 2021 to include COVID-19 education, emphasizing handwashing, mask-wearing, and healthy snacking to strengthen immunity.

During that year, the Wrapper Collection Promo was introduced, enabling students to recycle FanMilk product wrappers through designated bins, reducing plastic waste.

FanMilk Managing Director Ziobeieton Yeo highlighted the importance of these efforts, stating that the company’s mission centers on improving national health through accessible, nutritious products.

The School Caravan also acknowledges the contributions of teachers, who play a crucial role in student welfare and environmental education.
