SOUTH AFRICA – Lancewood, a renowned South African dairy producer, has launched the new Greek Delight Yoghurt in a convenient 150g snack tub, catering to consumers seeking indulgent and convenient snacking options.
This latest addition to its yoghurt lineup builds on the company’s strategy of meeting evolving consumer preferences while maintaining its reputation for high-quality dairy products.
Lancewood, established in 1996, offers a diverse portfolio that includes cheeses like cheddar, gouda, and cream cheese, alongside its expanding yoghurt range.
Recent innovations include the 2022 launch of the Indulgent Double Cream Yoghurt range with flavors such as Lemon Cheesecake and Turkish Delight.
The same year saw the introduction of South Africa’s first Double Cream Lactose-Free Yoghurt, designed to address the needs of lactose-intolerant consumers by using lactase enzymes to break down lactose, offering a digestive-friendly option without compromising on taste.
Shereen Anderhold, Lancewood’s Marketing Manager, emphasized the company’s consumer-centric approach.
“With our expanding yoghurt range, we aim to provide options that cater to diverse lifestyles, whether it’s a protein boost, a guilt-free treat, or a convenient snack. Everyone deserves to enjoy high-quality dairy products tailored to their needs.”
In addition to product innovation, Lancewood has embraced sustainable farming practices that reduce environmental impact and enhance profitability.
The company’s dairy farm, located in Sedgefield, operates under the AgriCarbon programme, South Africa’s first internationally certified carbon initiative for agriculture.
This program focuses on reducing greenhouse gas emissions, including methane and nitrogen, which have been a source of criticism in the dairy industry.
Mark Rubin, owner of the Lancewood farm, highlighted how sustainable practices, such as minimal tilling and reduced nitrogen use, contribute to cost efficiency and long-term viability.
“These methods not only lower our costs but also help preserve soil health, ensuring our operations are both environmentally and financially sustainable,” Rubin explained.
