Dairy MAX names agriculture industry veteran as its new CEO

USA – Dairy MAX, a leading regional dairy council headquartered in Grand Prairie, Texas, has announced the appointment of Keira Lombardo as its new chief executive officer.

Lombardo, a leader in the agriculture industry, will officially assume her role on December 2, succeeding Mike Konkle, who is retiring after 17 years of service.

The nonprofit organization, which represents over 900 dairy farmers across eight states, praised Konkle’s tenure for his dedication to advancing the dairy industry.

“Under Mike’s guidance, Dairy MAX has flourished, expanding our reach and impact for dairy farmers across the region,” said Mary Kraft, Board Chair of Dairy MAX and CEO of Kraft Family Dairies.

“Keira brings a wealth of experience to Dairy MAX, with a passion for farmers, sustainability, and agriculture.”

Lombardo comes to Dairy MAX with more than two decades of experience in the food and agriculture sector, most recently serving as chief administrative officer at Smithfield Foods, a global leader in pork production.

At Smithfield, she oversaw key departments including corporate communications, government affairs, sustainability, and investor relations.

“I’m honored to serve as the next CEO of Dairy MAX,” Lombardo said.

“I have a deep respect for the hard work and dedication of dairy farmers, and I am passionate about ensuring the continued success of this vital industry. I look forward to working with the talented Dairy MAX team to champion dairy, advocate for our farmers, and connect with consumers across the region.”

Lombardo’s leadership philosophy emphasizes sustainability and social impact, aligning closely with Dairy MAX’s mission to promote American agriculture and support dairy farming.

Barb O’Brien, President and CEO of Dairy Management Inc., expressed confidence in Lombardo’s appointment.

“Keira’s proven track record of success in building strong relationships, navigating complex issues, and fostering growth aligns with Dairy MAX’s mission,” O’Brien said.

Founded over 40 years ago, Dairy MAX operates five outreach programs: business development, consumer marketing, health and wellness, industry relations, and school marketing.

These initiatives aim to enhance the visibility of dairy farmers and their contributions to local communities across Texas, Colorado, Louisiana, New Mexico, and beyond.
