Almarai partners with SIG for 5-year expansion plan

SAUDI ARABIA – Almarai has selected SIG as a strategic partner for its ambitious five-year expansion plan aimed at strengthening market leadership and driving sustainable innovation.

The partnership builds on two decades of collaboration and focuses on aligning flexible manufacturing solutions with Almarai’s sustainability goals, reinforcing their commitment to environmental responsibility.

The new partnership will play a role enhancing Almarai’s operational efficiency and geographical reach.

Together, Almarai and SIG plan to explore cutting-edge packaging innovations that will not only support the company’s expansion but also contribute to its environmental objectives.

The two companies have worked together to enhance Almarai’s product portfolio while extending its reach in key markets, positioning the company as a leader in the Middle East and beyond.

To mark their two-decade-long relationship, Almarai and SIG are launching a special campaign titled “Pioneering Together for 20 Years.”

The campaign will showcase the strength and impact of their partnership, highlighting SIG’s advanced packaging solutions as a symbol of the ongoing evolution of Almarai’s product offerings.

Throughout their collaboration, the two companies have introduced several pioneering products that have set industry standards.

Almarai was the first to launch 150mL portion packs for juice, which later evolved into the popular 140mL format. In 2021, the company became the first to implement SIG’s Asset Health Monitoring system, a technology that allows for condition-based maintenance, ensuring optimal equipment performance and reducing downtime.

Additionally, Almarai introduced SIG carton packs for white cheese in 2008, a first for the market. These innovations have enabled Almarai to cater to diverse consumer segments and maintain a strong market presence.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, SIG provided vital support by deploying technical teams at Almarai’s facilities to ensure uninterrupted production in line with national guidelines.

This collaboration allowed Almarai to continue meeting the region’s demand for fresh and packaged products, highlighting the strength and adaptability of their alliance.

Ramesh Nair, head of Central Procurement at Almarai, emphasized the importance of SIG in the company’s growth.

“The journey with SIG has been integral to our growth. Hand in hand, we’ve been able to deliver sustainable packaging solutions that enhance the consumer experience and reinforce our joint commitment to innovation and adaptability in packaging solutions across our expanding product lines.”

David Kazan, head of Markets Middle East & Pakistan at SIG, expressed pride in supporting Almarai’s mission.

“We are proud to support Almarai in its mission to bring nutritious and quality products to consumers,” he said.

“Our shared commitment to operational excellence and sustainability has been the cornerstone of our partnership, and we look forward to continuing to innovate together in the years to come.”
