KENYA – Brookside Dairy triumphed at the 2024 Kenya Quality Awards hosted by the Kenya Bureau of Standards in Nairobi, clinching two prestigious honors: the Products of the Year Award and the Company of the Year Award.
This success follows Brookside’s recent ISO 17025:2017 accreditation for its Central Laboratory, awarded by the Kenya Accreditation Service (KENAS).
The certificate, received by Sabina Mwangi, Brookside’s General Manager of Quality Assurance, Systems, and Sustainability, reinforces the lab’s position as a leader in precision and quality within Kenya’s dairy industry.
Brookside now joins an elite group of just three dairy labs in the country to achieve this standard, further solidifying its reputation for operational excellence.
Earlier in the year, Brookside’s innovative Brookside Plus product line gained endorsement from the Kenya Nutritionist and Dietitian Institute (KNDI).
This milestone marked Brookside as the first dairy brand to meet KNDI’s stringent standards for products like lactose-free milk, low-fat milk, probiotic yogurt, and vitamin-enriched offerings.
The endorsement, a culmination of over a year of rigorous lab testing and evaluations, was celebrated at a ceremony led by Brookside’s Health & Nutritionist Manager, Caroline Muchobia.
Marketing Director Reza Cheboko emphasized the company’s dedication to compliance with national nutritional standards.
Brookside has also deepened its market presence through strategic partnerships, notably with the Kenya Primary Schools Headteachers Association (Kepsha).
This collaboration, aimed at supplying high-quality dairy products to schools, included a sponsorship of KSh 1 million and an additional KSh 1.8 million in dairy products and merchandise.
Linda Obando, Brookside’s General Manager for Marketing, highlighted the importance of addressing the unique needs of the education sector, stating, “We are committed to ensuring our products are accessible across schools through our robust distribution network.”
Beyond education, Brookside has strengthened its foothold in the hospitality sector through a partnership with the Kenya Association of Hotelkeepers and Caterers (KAHC).
This alliance has boosted the company’s market share, meeting the growing demand for quality dairy products in hotels and catering establishments.
KAHC CEO Mike Macharia lauded Brookside for its consistent delivery of high-quality offerings, which enhance customer experiences in hospitality venues.
