GHANA – FanMilk Ghana has reaffirmed its commitment to sustainable job creation and the empowerment of street vendors by unveiling seven fully-equipped shops under its ‘Right to Dream’ initiative.

Launched earlier this year, the program is set to provide 15 beneficiaries across the country with equipped shops, offering a clear pathway for growth within the company’s supply chain.

The ‘Right to Dream’ initiative revealed FanMilk’s dedication to uplifting communities by fostering sustainable employment opportunities.

This program provides ongoing coaching and business advisory support to new agents, equipping them with the necessary skills to manage their earnings effectively.

By doing so, FanMilk aims to help them build sustainable businesses that can support their families.

In addition to the infrastructure and coaching, the initiative includes the “Right to Dream” Award Scheme, designed to recognize and reward loyal street vendors whose efforts have significantly contributed to the widespread presence of Fan Milk products in Ghana.

This initiative aligns with the broader vision of FanMilk’s parent company, Danone, particularly its “Danone Impact Journey” pillar, which emphasizes thriving with people and communities.

By investing in the skills and capabilities of its partners, FanMilk aims to prepare them for future challenges while fostering a sense of pride in their roles.

During an event to celebrate the initiative’s progress, Lionel Parent, Managing Director of Fan Milk PLC, highlighted the importance of personal engagement with the company’s commercial partners.

“We are happy to bring back pride in our vendors and agents, who have been the key drivers of our business growth. For the first time, we have identified and rewarded ten street vendors by elevating them to the Agent category, making them business owners,” Parent stated.

He added that FanMilk provides financial support and logistics to facilitate the transition of street vendors into independent agents, cementing its role as a partner in their growth.

“This is just the beginning of our plans to bring back pride through strategic engagements,” Parent noted.

One of the initiative’s success stories is Agartha Baidoo, the first female recipient of the 2024 “Right to Dream” Award. After five years as a street vendor, Baidoo has transitioned into an agent.

Expressing her gratitude, she said, As a street vendor, it has always been my dream to save enough and own a shop. This support from Fan Milk is a dream come true.”

In the past three months, Fan Milk PLC has engaged with over 555 agents nationwide and 1,200 vendors in Accra, gaining valuable insights into their challenges and needs.

These engagements are part of the company’s strategy to strengthen its partnerships and drive mutual growth.
