Brookside achieves ISO 17025:2017 accreditation for quality standards

KENYA – Brookside Dairy Limited has announced its latest achievement as its Central Laboratory receives the prestigious ISO 17025:2017 accreditation.

Kenya Accreditation Service (KENAS) awarded the ceremonial certificate to Sabina Mwangi, Brookside’s General Manager of Quality Assurance, Systems, and Sustainability, in a ceremony held at Brookside’s Head Office.

This recognition reinforces Brookside’s commitment to precision, quality, and operational excellence, positioning it as a leading dairy industry laboratory in Kenya.

Brookside is now the third lab in the dairy sector to receive this ISO standard, further establishing its reputation in quality assurance.

Earlier this year, Brookside’s “Brookside Plus” line of products was endorsed by the Kenya Nutritionist and Dietitian Institute (KNDI).

The February 27 endorsement ceremony celebrated Brookside as the first dairy brand to meet KNDI’s rigorous standards, covering an array of products, including lactose-free milk, low-fat milk, probiotic yogurt, and vitamin-enriched options.

Reza Cheboko, Brookside’s Marketing Director, emphasized the importance of meeting legal requirements in aligning the brand with Section 36-2 of national standards, ensuring that products are safe and compliant.

The endorsement process, which involved detailed lab testing and evaluation over a year, was led by Health & Nutritionist Manager Caroline Muchobia.

She highlighted the diligence involved, underscoring the credibility of Brookside’s products within the Kenyan market.

Dr. Okee, CEO of KNDI, also underscored the role of nutrition beyond healthcare, stressing its significance from production to end consumption.

Additionally, Brookside’s Ugandan subsidiary, Uganda’s Brookside Limited, received recognition from the Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS).

The laboratory certification, awarded on July 30, acknowledged Brookside’s compliance with international quality testing standards for milk and milk products.

This UNBS recognition underscored Brookside’s commitment to maintaining rigorous testing protocols, with Brookside General Manager Benson Mwangi affirming its role in reinforcing the company’s position as a leader in East Africa’s dairy industry.

Brookside’s influence also extends to tax compliance in Uganda, with the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) praising the company’s economic contributions.

URA Commissioner General John Musinguzi commended Brookside’s dedication to supporting Uganda’s economic growth through compliant and transparent business practices.
