DENMARK – DSI Dantech, a Denmark-based international supplier of automation machinery, has acquired GEA Group’s North American freezing business.
The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, but the acquisition includes both new freezer sales and aftermarket services.
DSI Dantech will manage and deliver new orders for GEA machines in North America, while also integrating relevant GEA employees into its global operations.
The acquisition is part of DSI Dantech’s broader strategy to drive innovation by combining the strengths of both organizations.
DSI Dantech has a history of delivering advanced freezing solutions, and with GEA’s mechanical freezer technologies now under its belt, the company is positioning itself to set new benchmarks in the global mechanical freezing marketplace.
CEO Søren Overgaard emphasized the significance of this deal, describing it as a “pivotal moment” for the company.
He underscored DSI Dantech’s commitment to leading the future of mechanical freezing solutions by leveraging the combined expertise and technology from the acquisition.
“Our focus is on mechanical freezing technology, which we believe is a critical area for growth,” Overgaard said.
“By bringing together exceptional talent and advanced technology, we’re positioning ourselves to push the boundaries of innovation and deliver unparalleled value to our global customers.”
This development follows a string of strategic moves in the dairy and food production sectors by GEA.
GEA has also been growing its presence in the dairy industry, particularly in the UK, with the recent acquisition of South West Dairy Services, a firm based in Devon that is one of the main GEA dealers in the region.
South West Dairy Services, owned by Philip and Rachel Squires, offers a comprehensive range of parlour parts, spares for dairy equipment, dairy hygiene chemicals, and sundries.
The company has built a strong reputation for its customer service, and its team of installers, service engineers, and hygiene specialists operate across Devon, Somerset, and Dorset.
Simon Redfearn, managing director of GEA Farm Technologies UK, said the acquisition would help further GEA’s growth strategy in the UK dairy sector.
He noted the high level of customer service provided by South West Dairy Services and expressed optimism about the future of the partnership.
“This acquisition is a fantastic opportunity to further our growth strategy in the UK,” Redfearn stated.
“Along with being part of the Milking Systems Technician Accreditation Scheme (MSTA), this acquisition by GEA means we are well placed to assist and partner in our customers’ progression in the dairy industry.”
Despite the acquisition, South West Dairy Services will retain its branding, and customers are unlikely to see significant changes in the company’s day-to-day operations.
The company will continue to serve its clients with the same dedication, while benefiting from GEA’s broader resources and expertise.
The team at South West Dairy Services will also be showcasing GEA’s products at the upcoming Royal Cornwall Show, underscoring the ongoing relationship between the two entities.
