CANADA – Dairy giant Saputo has expanded its product range with the introduction of several new cheeses under the Wensleydale and Vandersterre brands, each showcasing distinct flavor profiles.

Leading this new line-up is the Mango Ginger Wensleydale, produced in the picturesque Yorkshire Dales National Park in the UK.

“This cheese combines sweet, juicy mango with warming ginger notes, creating a unique flavor experience,” the company said.

“Saputo’s Hot & Spicy Cheddar offers a bold twist on the classic English cheddar, blending its rich creaminess with red bell peppers, crushed chili, and jalapeños, finishing with a medley of herbs for an added kick.”

The Kaamps Estate Pizza Gouda Wedge is a Dutch farmstead cheese enriched with chunks of black olives, tomatoes, and oregano, making it an ideal “pizza cheese.”

In an innovative approach, the Kaamps Estate Maple Whiskey Wedge features curds washed in maple syrup whiskey during production.

According to the company, this process imparts a woody character to the cheese, complemented by a sweet yet slightly acidic finish, enhanced by the natural sweetness of milk from cows grazing on clover pastures in the Netherlands.

Completing the collection is the Landa Jersey XO Wedge, which undergoes a natural ripening process on wooden shelves for a minimum of 18 months. This aging method results in a firm texture with fine salt and protein crystals.

Additionally, Saputo plans to introduce a truffle cheddar in the coming weeks, further diversifying its cheese offerings.

In conjunction with its product expansion, Saputo reiterated its commitment to sustainability and community support through the Saputo Promise.

In fiscal 2024, the company continued implementing its seven pillars of sustainability, having completed 48 capital projects aimed at reducing carbon, energy, water, and waste footprints.

The company has established a long-term virtual power purchase agreement (VPPA) with Capital Power, which is expected to generate over 206,300 MWh of renewable electricity annually, reducing CO2 emissions by more than 140,000 tonnes.

Saputo also aims to achieve significant sustainability targets by 2025, including ensuring that 100% of its milk supply chain is covered by relevant sustainability standards and contributing US$10 million to related initiatives.

The company remains focused on sustainable farming practices, investing in projects that help farmers implement sustainable operational plans in Australia, the UK, and the US, with plans for similar initiatives in Canada and Argentina.

Under the People Pillar, Saputo has made significant investments in employee well-being and diversity, equity, and inclusion.

The company was recognized by Forbes as one of the World’s Top Companies for Women for the second consecutive year and was also named one of Canada’s Top 100 Employers for 2024.

As Saputo moves into fiscal 2025, it remains committed to its goals, confident that it has the right infrastructure and talent to sustain its momentum and drive further progress in its sustainability and community support efforts.
