AUSTRIA – Berglandmilch, a leading Austrian dairy producer, has strengthened its partnership with SIG by installing the country’s first SIG SmileBig 24 Aseptic filling machine at its Klagenfurt production site.
The investment seeks to allow Berglandmilch to package its products in SIG SmileBig carton packs, designed for convenience and ideal for busy consumers seeking on-the-go options.
In addition, introducing SIG SmileBig carton packs will enhance the visibility of Berglandmilch’s beverages on retail shelves, thanks to their unique curved design and easy-grip corners.
Available in five different volumes: 200, 250, 300, 330, and 350 ml, the packs are designed to accommodate various products while providing an innovative drinking experience.
The filling machine will also have the capability of producing up to 24,000 cartons per hour and can utilize both SIG Terra and standard paperboard materials, all of which are FSC-certified.
Meanwhile, Berglandmilch plans to leverage the versatility of the SIG SmileBig packs and filling machine to launch a diverse range of products, including milk, cream, yogurt drinks, meal replacements, and plant-based options, alongside its popular Latella drinks.
“We’ve chosen SIG SmileBig because it’s a lifestyle pack that meets modern consumers’ needs. This new packaging provides a unique on-the-go drinking experience while aligning with our commitment to sustainable practices,” Josef Braunshofer, CEO of Berglandmilch, stated.
“Our collaboration with SIG focuses on recycling, plastic reduction, and the use of responsibly sourced materials.”
Viktoria Uhl-Pochman, Head of Sales for Austria & Switzerland at SIG, highlighted the comprehensive nature of the SIG SmileBig offering.
He noted that the package includes not just the carton but also the filling machine, closure options, paper straws, and monitoring tools to enhance production efficiency.
Earlier this year, SIG also partnered with India’s Hamdard Laboratories, facilitating the installation of an SIG XSlim 24 Aseptic filling machine to meet evolving consumer demands for affordable and convenient packaging.
This machine, designed to handle nine different volume sizes, demonstrated the adaptability of SIG’s technology.
In related developments, Japanese beverage company ITO EN has launched two premium beverages utilizing SIG’s packaging solutions, underscoring the global reach and effectiveness of SIG’s innovative aseptic filling technologies.
