UGANDA – Pearl Dairy Farm Limited, the producer of Lato Milk, has emerged as a leader in Uganda’s dairy industry, earning multiple honors in the People’s Choice Awards.
During an event hosted by the Consumer Choice Awards, the company was awarded as Consumer Choice of Uganda for Best Flavoured Milk, Yoghurt, and Best Producer of Dairy Products
Consumer Choice Awards Africa is an annual awarding ceremony which seeks to award excellence to companies, organization and institutions across the continent in various sectors of the economy through the public opinions collected as online votes.
In both 2019 and 2020, the company was recognized for its high-quality dairy products, including Best Flavoured Milk, Best Yoghurt, and Best Producer of Dairy Products.
The annual People’s Choice Awards survey, organized by Muyz Plus Advertising International, involved over 41,000 respondents across Uganda’s four regions—Northern, Western, Eastern, and Central.
The survey not only gathered feedback from consumers but also engaged traders and regulatory bodies such as the Uganda National Bureau of Standards, Dairy Development Authority, and Uganda Communications Commission.
Lato Milk’s success is largely due to its consistent innovation in product development. The company processes approximately 500,000 liters of milk daily, employing Ultra Heat Treatment (UHT) to extend shelf life and ensure product safety.
Packaged in Tetra Brik® Aseptic packs, Lato’s UHT milk can be stored in ambient conditions without refrigeration, offering consumers greater convenience.
Lato Milk is available in several formats, including ESL Pack, Slim Pack, and FinoPack, as well as powdered milk variants such as whole milk, skimmed milk, and instant full-cream milk.
At the 2020 People’s Choice Awards, Pearl Dairy’s Lato yogurt and milk products were again recognized, praised for meeting consumer preferences and being widely available in retail outlets across the country.
The awards were presented at a ceremony attended by Uganda’s State Minister of Finance for General Duties, Hon. Gabriel Ajedra Aridru, who commended Pearl Dairy for maintaining product quality and affordability despite the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Pearl Dairy’s Marketing Manager, Kennedy Odhiambo, accepted the award on behalf of the company, noting that Lato’s innovative products have not only gained popularity within Uganda but also expanded into regional markets like South Sudan, Malawi, and Ethiopia.
Odhiambo highlighted the company’s commitment to high-quality dairy production and its contributions to improving nutrition in Uganda, which have set a new standard for the country’s dairy industry.
Founded in Mbarara, Pearl Dairy has continued to grow, consistently expanding its product range to include flavored milk, yogurt, and ghee.
