UK – UK-based dairy supplier, Freshways Group has acquired Totally Welsh Dairy, a dairy producer located in Haverfordwest, Wales.

The acquisition is part of Freshways’ broader strategy to strengthen its operations following the purchase of Müller’s Milk & More business earlier this year.

The acquisition of Totally Welsh Dairy, which has recently invested in a glass bottling line, is expected to bolster Freshways’ product offerings and enhance its ability to serve doorstep delivery customers, particularly those gained from the Milk & More integration.

Freshways’ managing director, Bali Nijjar, highlighted the importance of this acquisition in expanding the company’s range of dairy products while continuing to support local Welsh farmers.

He emphasized that the recent purchase of Milk & More has enhanced Freshways’ delivery capabilities, which are essential to meet increasing consumer demand for convenient and sustainable dairy products.

Mark Hunter, managing director of Totally Welsh, expressed optimism about the sale, noting that Freshways’ acquisition will foster future growth and create new opportunities for both the company and its employees.

This latest deal follows Freshways’ acquisition of Milk & More, a UK-based food-delivery service, from the German dairy giant Unternehmensgruppe Theo Müller earlier this year.

With changing consumer preferences and a growing demand for home delivery services, the acquisition is seen as a strategic move for Freshways to stay competitive in the evolving marketplace.

In related news, Müller’s acquisition of Yew Tree Dairy, a UK dairy business, is under investigation by the UK’s competition regulator.

Müller’s goal with Yew Tree Dairy is to leverage the company’s processing capabilities and strong customer relationships to expand its milk powder export business and strengthen its supply chain resilience
