INDIA – The Madhya Pradesh government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) to enhance milk production in the state.
The agreement, formalized on September 10, 2024, is set to improve the livelihoods of farmers by ensuring fair milk prices and promoting economic prosperity across 11,000 villages.
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav announced the MoU during a recent meeting with Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah in New Delhi.
Yadav highlighted that the central government, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, will continuously support this initiative to boost the dairy sector in Madhya Pradesh.
“The agreement is expected to play a crucial role in advancing animal husbandry practices and increasing milk production, addressing both local and national dairy demands,” he said.
“The MoU marks a significant step forward in our commitment to dairy development and farmer welfare; It will provide fair prices for milk, contributing to the economic upliftment of dairy farmers in rural areas.”
The initiative is set to benefit numerous households involved in dairy farming by improving access to resources and support. The collaboration with NDDB will help modernize dairy farming practices, increase milk yields, and ensure better market access for farmers.
In addition to this development, the Madhya Pradesh government has been actively pursuing various strategies to enhance agricultural productivity and economic development in the state.
CM Yadav also expressed gratitude for the approval of a proposal to purchase soybean crops at the Minimum Support Price (MSP) of ₹4,892 per quintal.
This decision, supported by Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, reflects a broader effort to support farmers and stabilize agricultural markets.
