Amul ranked as the world’s strongest food, dairy brand in 2024 by Brand Finance

UK – In a significant achievement, Amul has been ranked as the world’s strongest food brand and the strongest dairy brand in 2024 by Brand Finance, UK, a leading global brand consultancy.

This ranking was highlighted in Brand Finance’s annual “Food & Drink 2024” report, which evaluates the most valuable and strongest brands across the food, dairy, and non-alcoholic drinks sectors.

Amul’s ascent to the top spot marks a rise from its previous position as the second strongest food brand in 2023.

The brand achieved a remarkable Brand Strength Index (BSI) score of 91.0 out of 100, earning an AAA+ rating. This ranking also signifies that Amul has retained its title as the world’s strongest dairy brand for the fourth consecutive year.

Amul’s brand strength is credited to its exceptional performance in metrics such as familiarity, consideration, and recommendation.

It is noteworthy that Amul is the only Indian brand to feature among the top 50 global brands in the report, underscoring its significant achievements on the international stage.

Jayen Mehta, Managing Director of Amul, expressed pride in this recognition, attributing the success to the collective efforts of the entire Amul team and its 3.6 million farmers.

He emphasized that the trust built over 78 years is the true currency of Amul, making it a beloved brand across generations.

“This is indeed a proud moment for the entire Amul team and our 36 lakh farmers, who have contributed to build and nurture this brand,” he said.

“We have always believed Amul’s currency is not milk, but trust and it is this trust which has created the brand that is loved by every generation of consumers over the last 78 years. “

Amul’s branding strategy, deeply rooted in its cooperative structure and impactful marketing campaigns, has cemented its status as a household name in India.

With an 85% share in the Indian butter market and a 66% share in the cheese market, Amul’s branding efforts have consistently resonated with consumers.

In response to the growing demand for healthier dairy options, Amul has introduced a range of high-protein, low-fat, and lactose-free products.

These include High Protein Milk, High Protein Whey Concentrate in plain and chocolate flavors, High Protein Paneer, as well as High Protein Buttermilk, High Protein Lassi, Lactose-Free Sweets, Sugar-Free Cookies, Ice Creams, and Flavored Milk and Lassi.

Amul annually procures 11 billion liters of milk, with a market worth of Rs. 80,000 Crores (USD 10 Billion). Its products are picked up 22 billion times a year, the highest in the world.

Marketed by the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation, the largest farmer-owned cooperative globally, Brand Amul continues to set benchmarks in the food and dairy industry.
