NIGERIA– Fan Milk Plc, a leading dairy company in Nigeria has marked its 59th Annual General Meeting (AGM) with a celebration of nearly six decades of quality and innovation in the dairy industry.

During the event, Managing Director Kayode Adebiyi highlighted the successful commissioning of the Model Dairy Farm and Training Institute in Odeda, Ogun State, which was completed in 2022.

The AGM, attended by shareholders, board members, and key stakeholders, reviewed the company’s growth and future strategies.

Adebiyi reaffirmed the company’s commitment to the Danone Impact Journey, emphasizing its dedication to environmental preservation and community engagement.

The occasion also included appreciation for the crucial roles played by vendors, suppliers, and employees in sustaining Fan Milk Nigeria’s success.

A significant point of discussion was the partnership announced earlier this year between Fan Milk Plc and Obasanjo Farms Nigeria Limited. This collaboration aims to advance dairy farming expansion and promote local sourcing in Nigeria.

The partnership involved a farm located on a 2500-hectare piece of land in Iseyin, Oyo State. Fan Milk will import 100 pregnant heifers from Egypt, while Obasanjo Farms will provide 300 heifers within the first year.

The farm is expected to double in size by the end of December 2026. According to the five-year partnership agreement, Fan Milk Plc will purchase the fresh milk produced and will provide training and technical capacity building for the farm’s personnel.

This collaboration was set to create employment opportunities, especially in rural areas, and both companies are committed to engaging with local communities to foster positive relationships, address social concerns, and promote responsible corporate citizenship.

“By investing in training and capacity-building programs for local farmers, we will empower communities, enhance productivity, and contribute to the development of Nigeria’s agricultural sector,” Former Nigerian President and Chairman of Obasanjo Farms Limited, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo.

“Joint investments in research and development will introduce modern farming techniques, advanced technologies, and sustainable practices to optimize dairy production while minimizing environmental impact.”

Herve Barrere, General Manager of Danone Sub-Saharan Africa, added that the partnership emphasizes the importance of sourcing raw materials locally, empowering local farmers, improving their livelihoods, and contributing to the growth of the agricultural sector.

This partnership represents a significant milestone in Fan Milk Plc’s commitment to backward integration. It follows the successful launch of its model dairy farm in Odeda and the training programs for local dairy farmers at the Odeda Dairy Training Institute in 2022.”
