FRANCE – Danone has unveiled a multi-year collaboration with Microsoft to embed artificial intelligence (AI) into its operations deeply.

Central to this partnership is the creation of the Danone Microsoft AI Academy, a dedicated initiative designed to upskill all Danone employees and ensure they are well-versed in the AI and digital tools needed for success in an increasingly AI-driven economy.

This new academy builds upon Danone’s existing ‘DanSkills’ program, which aims to prepare approximately 100,000 employees for future roles while also attracting new talent.

Currently, 50,000 Danone employees are already leveraging AI tools such as Microsoft Copilot in their daily tasks.

The Academy will offer various learning opportunities to enhance AI literacy and expertise among all staff members, with specific initiatives tailored to different employee groups to ensure comprehensive training coverage.

In collaboration with Microsoft and other educational institutions, Danone aims to create a responsive and inclusive training environment that promotes collaboration and innovation while readying the company for future challenges.

The partnership will provide Danone with advanced AI solutions and develop use cases across all company functions.

Initially, the collaboration will focus on creating an AI-enabled supply chain to boost operational efficiency by implementing predictive forecasting and real-time adjustments in logistics and manufacturing.

Additionally, the partnership will work on developing digital twins of core skills to support data-driven decision-making within Danone’s procurement, production, and distribution teams.

“Our collaboration with Microsoft will accelerate our AI transformation, providing us with the tools, technology, and expertise to explore new frontiers in data analysis, operational efficiency, and consumer engagement,” said Juergen Esser, Danone’s deputy CEO of finance, technology, and data.

“Working together is not just about technology; it’s about fostering a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and performance across our organization.”

Hayate Gallot, corporate VP of commercial solutions areas at Microsoft, added that Danone is looking to the future and understanding AI’s role in transforming their organization and the world.

“We are thrilled to support them in fostering innovation, enhancing operational efficiency, and increasing data-driven decision-making across all functions. With our future Danone Microsoft AI Academy, we aim to empower Danone’s workforce with the tools and expertise needed to excel in an AI-driven economy.”

This collaboration underscores Danone’s commitment to innovation and continuous improvement. It aims to harness the power of AI to drive operational excellence and ensure a competitive edge in the market.

By equipping its workforce with cutting-edge AI skills and knowledge, Danone is positioning itself to navigate and thrive in the evolving global economy.
