Dairy Manufacturers recalls baby formula products over FDA Noncompliance

USA – Dairy Manufacturers Inc., headquartered in Texas, has taken a significant step by initiating a voluntary recall of several baby formula products due to noncompliance with regulations set by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

This recall affects all lot codes of three specific items: Farmalac 0-12, Farmalac 0-12 Low Lactose, and Crecelac Infant 0-12. The FDA officially announced this recall on Saturday, 25th May 2024, publishing the details on their website.

Consumers who have purchased Crecelac Infant 0-12, Farmalac 0-12 or Farmalac 0-12 Low Lactose are urged to cease usage immediately and return the products to the place of purchase for a full refund.

These baby formula products, packaged in 12.4-ounce cans made of cardboard and aluminium, were exclusively distributed in retail stores across Texas, with expiration dates set for August and September 2025.

Notably, there have been no reports of illnesses or adverse reactions associated with the recalled products so far.

However, it is important to emphasize that these formulas have not undergone evaluation to ensure they meet U.S. food safety and nutritional standards.

The primary reason for this recall is Dairy Producers Corp.’s failure to adhere to the FDA’s rigorous requirements for infant formula.

Under section 21 of the FDA’s Code of Federal Regulations, manufacturers and distributors of new infant formulas must register with the FDA and submit a premarket notification before their products can be sold across state lines.

Dairy Producers Corp. neglected to fulfil this obligation, leading to the recall of the aforementioned products.

According to the regulatory, product recalls serve as a crucial safeguard to protect consumers from potential harm, often triggered by contamination risks, mislabeling, or failure to meet nutritional standards.

This recall follows another recent incident where a company based in Washington recalled a Goat Milk Formula Recipe Kit on FDA advice due to insufficient nutritional content for use as an infant formula.

Dairy Producers Corp. has expressed remorse for any inconvenience caused and has assured customers that they are taking all necessary measures to ensure the safety, quality, and compliance of their products going forward.
