Amul dairy commisions new advanced SIG – filling lines to enhances packaging capacity

INDIA – Amul, India’s leading dairy brand, has officially commissioned two cutting-edge SIG filling machines for aseptic carton packs at its Kheda Satellite Dairy plant in Khatraj, Gujarat.

According to the company, the launch commissioning of the two machines aims at expanding its filling capacity and capitalizing on emerging market opportunities.

“The two new SIG filling machines, including the SIG Slimline 12 Aseptic and the SIG XSlim 24 Aseptic, brings Amul’s total SIG filling lines to five, reinforcing its position as a key player in the dairy industry.”

Dr. Amit Vyas, Managing Director of Amul Dairy, emphasized the importance of adapting to evolving market trends and consumer preferences.

The dairy market is currently undergoing a massive transition. The emerging market trends and changing consumer needs make it essential to expand our offering and leverage excellent technologies,” he said.

He highlighted the versatility of SIG’s filling lines, which enable the packaging of various volumes on the same line, as a strategic advantage for Amul in meeting diverse market demands.

The SIG Slimline 12 Aseptic boasts a capacity to fill 12,000 carton packs per hour and accommodates four different volumes, ranging from 500ml to 1,100ml, offering flexibility in packaging options.

Similarly, the SIG XSlim 24 Aseptic line can fill nine different volumes, from 80ml to 200ml, at a rate of 24,000 carton packs per hour.

In addition, according to Samuel Sigrist, CEO at SIG, Amul plans to utilize the new filling lines to package white milk in 200ml and 1,000ml carton packs, as well as its range of fruit and whey drinks under the brand name Amul Tru in 150ml aseptic carton packages.

Sigrist emphasized the ongoing collaboration with Amul and hailed the commissioning of the new filling machines as a testament to their partnership’s strength and commitment to meet evolving market dynamics.

Additionally, Abdelghany Eladib, President & General Manager IMEA at SIG, reiterated the company’s dedication to providing cutting-edge technologies to support Amul Dairy’s efforts in delivering high-quality products to Indian consumers.
