USA – The International Dairy Federation (IDF) has announced the appointment of Laurence Rycken as its new director general, effective April 1, 2024.
Laurence Rycken having served as the science and standards program manager will bring over 12 years of experience within the IDF.
Throughout her tenure, she has been a fervent advocate for highlighting the crucial role of milk and dairy in ensuring nutrition security.
With her extensive knowledge of the organization, strong connections within the IDF community, and expertise in the dairy sector, Rycken is poised to lead the IDF into its next chapter.
Rycken expressed her enthusiasm for the opportunity to extend her contribution to the organization in her new capacity.
She highlighted her goals to leverage the IDF’s current position as the foremost source of expertise and scientific knowledge within the global dairy sector.
Her appointment follows the forthcoming departure of Caroline Emond, the current director general, who has led the IDF with distinction for the past six years.
Emond’s tenure has been marked by numerous achievements, including positioning the IDF as a leading and influential international organization.
Under her guidance, the IDF initiated impactful programs such as the Dairy Innovation Awards and the Women in Dairy initiatives, fostering active engagement with members and stakeholders.
In recognition of Emond’s exceptional leadership, the board of directors expressed gratitude for her outstanding performance and appointed her as an honorary member of the IDF during the 2023 IDF World Dairy Summit.
Emond will continue to serve in her role until March 31, facilitating a smooth transition to Rycken’s leadership.
