GHANA – Fan Milk Plc, a prominent manufacturer and distributor of dairy products and beverages in Ghana, has recently announced Mr. Hervé Orama Barrere as the company’s member of Board of Directors, effective November 30, 2023.

Additionally, Mr. Barrere is set to take on the role of Interim Managing Director starting January 1, 2024, overseeing operations until a permanent replacement is found for the outgoing Managing Director, Mr. Ziobeieton Yeo.

According to the company, Hervé Orama Barrere brings extensive operational and leadership experience to Fan Milk Plc.

His career spans eight years in the banking industry, followed by 12 years at Nestlé, where he held various positions, including Managing Director in the Congo and Central Africa regions.

In 2017, he joined Danone to lead the Fan Milk Danone business in Nigeria, later becoming the Managing Director of Danone Algeria business unit in 2019. Since the beginning of 2023, Hervé has served as the Managing Director of Danone Southern Africa.

In his new role, Mr. Barrere will lead Fan Milk’s activities in West Africa and oversee Danone’s business in South Africa. Both business units will be integrated into a single cluster business unit, focusing on Danone’s essential dairy and plant-based operations in sub-Saharan Africa.

“It is intended that Hervé holds the position of Managing Director of Fan Milk Plc on a temporary basis until a permanent replacement, based in Ghana and reporting to Hervé, is appointed,” Fan Milk Plc stated in a press release.

This transition, starting on January 1, 2024, is aimed at ensuring a smooth changeover and maintaining the company’s operational efficiency.

The company also expressed its gratitude to Ziobeieton Yeo for his dedicated service as Managing Director and a member of the Board, acknowledging his decision to pursue other professional projects outside Danone.

In other corporate news, Fan Milk Limited highlighted the company’s commitment to food safety during the release of its 2022 annual report.

The report showcased the retention of the Food Safety Systems Certificate and the renewal of the Ghana Food and Drugs Administration Manufacturing Facility License Certificate.

Internally, within the Danone Group, Fan Milk Plc achieved an ‘excellent’ score in the Pre-Requisite Programs (PRP) audit, demonstrating compliance with hygienic conditions and good manufacturing practices.

The report also revealed that no formal training was organized for the Directors during the year, and no significant contracts were entered into by the company that involved Directors with a material impact on business during the same period.
