KENYA – The production of a documentary film on the status of the dairy industry in Kenya with the objective of showcasing Kenya as a leading dairy industry player in Africa has been announced by FW Africa.
The documentary’s focus will be to highlight the tremendous growth, achievements and innovations of the dairy industry in Kenya, while providing the opportunity for the sector to discover new insights and technologies that the sector should adopt for a more sustainable future.
According to Francis Juma, the CEO of FW Africa, the company, through its FW Africa StoryLabs franchise, will interview all the key stakeholders in the dairy value chain in Kenya and globally to provide their perspectives on the opportunities, challenges and trends in the sector.
Among the stakeholders expected to be interviewed include investors, dairy farmers, processors, co-operatives, retailers, veterinarians, consultants, academia and researchers.
Others will be suppliers of new technologies such as equipment, ingredients, packaging and financial services, local leaders, NGOs and development organisations, industry associations, county and central government representatives, Kenya Dairy Board and Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, and Fisheries, among others.

Important sector, poised for further transformation.
According to the Kenya Dairy Board, Kenya’s dairy industry is a significant player in Kenya’s economy, employing over 1.5 million people and contributing a 4% to the GDP.
According to Juma, the documentary has several objectives, including to showcase Kenya as a leading dairy industry player in Africa, while raising awareness of the critical role that the sector plays in Kenya’s economy and society.
The film will also promote dialogue and collaboration among stakeholders and contribute to informed decision-making and policy development that will promote the industry’s long-term sustainability and growth.
Further, it will highlight the recent investments and market trends, provide insights into the regulatory and policy environment, showcase new technologies that can be adopted by the players in Kenya’s dairy value chain to enhance productivity and efficiency; boost new product innovation; reduce costs; and improve nutrition, quality and safety.
It will also showcase sustainable practices along the dairy value chain in Kenya.

Virginia reveals that since the inception of the project, several dairy industry stakeholders have already been interviewed for the documentary and that there are still a few opportunities to interview other stakeholders.
The documentary is expected to be ready, after editing, later in the year, when it shall be screened for the first time before a live audience at a hotel location in Nairobi.
