SOUTH AFRICA – South Africa’s largest dairy manufacturer, Lactalis SA, has expanded its iconic Steri Stumple flavoured milk with the launch of a new Peanut Butter flavour.

According to the company’s marketing director, Mathew Richards, the introduction of a peanut butter flavour to their range underscores their commitment to bringing fun, innovation, and excitement to consumers.

“Manufactured since 1970 at the Lactalis SA factory in Gqeberha, Eastern Cape, Steri Stumpie has established itself as South Africa’s original and number one flavoured milk,” he said.

“With the launch of the peanut butter flavour, the brand continues to show its commitment to bringing fun, flavour, and colour to the lives of consumers.”

He also noted that the popular flavour has extended into multiple food categories and now it has added another reason for South Africans to choose their favourite flavoured milk.

“We are confident that South Africans will #GoNutsWithSteriStumpie and the peanut butter flavour will become another favourite. This is not just a fun and tasty treat but a celebration of a much-loved South African flavour,” Richard added.

According to the company, over the last half a decade Steri Stumpie has cemented itself as South Africa’s favourite flavoured milk brand.

At the end of last year, while the brand celebrated 52 years in the country, it hosted an array of “Steri-brations” at popular locations around Johannesburg and Cape Town where a “Steri-mobile” brought joy to the drink’s countless fans.

Throughout the years, Steri Stumpie said that with its array of delicious flavours, packed with natural goodness, it has become a staple in the South African beverage industry.

Recently, the dairy producer invested US$7.7 million in a new evaporator dryer powder plant facility at its cheese manufacturing plant in Bonnievale in the Western Cape.

“This investment further demonstrates the continued commitment by Group Lactalis to strengthen its business in South Africa,” the company stated.

In addition to the new production facility, Lactalis South Africa remains home to its strong brands in dairy product categories which range from cheese, yoghurt, milk, and custard, to flavoured milk, cream, drinking yoghurt, masa, fruit beverages, butter and ice cream.

Last year, Lactalis mature cheddar cheese under Woolworths emerged as top South Africa’s Dairy Product of the Year for 2022.

That marked the third year running a cheese made by the company emerging as the Dairy Product of the Year.

The 2022 award was also the fifth time in six years that a product made by Lactalis SA claimed the coveted top prize at the annual dairy event, a recognition of the consistent and outstanding quality of products manufactured by LSA.
