KENYA Kenyan leading processor and marketer of premium dairy products, Bio Foods Ltd, has cemented its leadership position in Kenya’s dairy industry, after it emerged the winners in three outstanding categories during Africa Food Awards, held in Nairobi, Kenya.

Now in its 5th year, The Africa Food Awards is held annually to celebrate crowning excellence in Africa’s food industry while encouraging the adoption of world-class practices and technologies.

“We are excited to share that we received the 3 awards in the just concluded AFMASS Food Expo – Africa’s Largest Food Industry Trade Shows, 2023,” Bio Food said.

The awards acquired by the processor included the New Products of the Year Award, for Bio Coconut Milk, in the ‘Alternative Dairy, Beverages &Novel Food Products of the Year category.

According to Bio Foods, the product is a premium non-dairy milk packed with essential vitamins and nutrients which is made from locally sourced finest coconuts from the Kenyan coast.

It added that the milk alternative is ideal for vegetarians, vegans, lactose intolerant and consumers who have specific dietary needs.

In addition, under the ‘Local Sourcing Initiative of the Year’ category, the processor acquired the Sustainability Initiative Of The Year Award, for their Feeding for Profit Program.

“Feeding for Profit program is an initiative that seeks to educate farmers on dairy farming best practices and how to generate revenue as a dairy enterprise while still producing clean quality milk,” Bio Foods said in a LinkedIn post.

Bio Foods’ CEO Joachim Westerveld, was privileged to also emerge as The CEO Of The Year, feted for being the year’s exemplary leader who has led the Bio team to great achievements through his intentional leadership skills.

“We are grateful to the judges for these recognitions, and we are committed to continuing to provide our consumers and our stakeholders with the cleanest, healthiest, and best-tasting products. We also affirm that we will continue setting standards in the dairy industry.”

According to the organizer, Bio Food Products truly embodies these values, and their commitment to sustainable practices sets a remarkable example for the industry.

This great milestone comes just after the company emerged as the first and only Food & Beverage company in Kenya to receive a B Corporation certification after undergoing a rigorous 2-year impact assessment with B Lab Africa.

According to the company, acquiring the certification indicated compliance to maintain a high standard of verified, overall social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability
