ARMENIA – Pink Berry, a specialty soft serve and packaged ice cream brand in Armenia, has received support from European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA) to streamline its operations through digitalization.

Founded in 2017 by its CEO Ani Gyazaryan, the Yerevan-based ice cream company is known for its colorful branding and unique flavor combinations that have enabled the business to become a market leader in the country.

Born out of the love of the founder’s son love for ice cream, Pink Berry began to see daily growth and increased sales issues related to business administration within the company’s exponential increase.

Ani said it is at this point where EBRD’s Women in Business program and the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA) support came in, to introduce a raft of digital solutions to increase automation and streamline processes.

This has allowed the company to operate more efficiently, increase the quality of its products and provide a better service for customers at its boutique cafes.

She stated: “The digitalization programs we undertook through the EBRD have had a substantial impact, helping our business management processes and oversight become more streamlined, productive, and efficient.

They helped us create new packaging and increase sales through advertising campaigns, and provided advice on financial optimization.”

These improvements have also allowed the business to focus on growing and delivering on its environmental goals, with a stronger emphasis placed on the green economy within the company, Ani added.

Currently, EBRD notes that Pink Berry produces all its new ice creams in eco-friendly paper packaging, and production is optimized to limit waste wherever possible.

According to the multilateral developmental investment bank, any paper waste from the company is recycled, and food scraps are donated to charity while also doing its bit to limit its impact on the environment and become more sustainable.

With digitalization in place, the company’s feasible future is rosy since it stands out for its creative approach to flavor development, playful branding, sustainable packaging, and commitment to high-quality, unique and delicious ice cream that dictates trends in the market.

In its cart of offerings, the wild berry, mango, and passion fruit have become the most popular flavors in the country, which Pink Berry introduced to the local population.

With the recent growth, the company has adjusted its immediate and long-term goals in tandem, as it plans for expansion.

The planned franchising partnerships aimed at increasing the ice cream boutiques throughout Armenia by Pink Berry is expected to soar its sales points.

Furthermore, the dairy is on the lookout for export opportunities and to capture new markets both domestically and globally to continue increasing its market share and improve on current market position through innovation, product development, and building on existing brand awareness.
