“The new club is fixed. Niklas made a decision a short time ago and I would be surprised if he overturns this decision again,” Volker Struth, Niklas Süle’s agent, said on Sunday in the Doppelpass show on Sport1, without mentioning that club by name. According to Frankfurter Rundschau, the club in question is Borussia Dortmund. The 26-year-old has also been linked with Newcastle, Chelsea and FC Barcelona recently.
The newspaper refers to a “safe source” from Frankfurt – the Germany international was born in the Main metropolis and played in the youth setup of Eintracht between 2006 and 2009. Sky Germany chief reporter Florian Plettenberg had also reported on the interest of BVB last week, but ruled out a transfer in the summer. Süle would be the 13th transfer between the record titleholders and the Black and Yellows and the eighth player to make the journey from Munich to North Rhine-Westphalia.
